About the Artists

Tara Varney is an actor, playwright, director, and theatre educator from Kansas City, Missouri. She is a Dickens Caroler and teaches acting, theatre exploration, stage makeup, and digital storytelling for the Coterie Theatre, Young Audiences, CreativeWorks, and her own after-school program, Dramarama. She is the recipient of a 2012 ArtsKC Inspiration Grant for the play Sexing Hitler.

He is a founding member of the Kansas City Screenwriters where he wrote the short films Rhubarb Pie and Fringe Follies. Together they have written and produced multiple "Best of Fringe" plays at the Kansas City Fringe Festival, including Jesus Christ King of Comedy, Lingerie Shop, Khaaaaan! the Musical, and Hexing Hitler/Sexing Hitler.

They would like to thank everyone at the Nelson-Atkins Museum that helped develop this project, including Rose May, Scott Heffley, Gaylord Torrence, Colin Mackenzie, Elisabeth Batchelor, Leesa Fanning, Amber Mills, Steve Waterman, and Judith Koke.
